Our Minister – David Payne

David and Christine Payne are servants of God and have a passion for helping the church of Christ in Australia grow and develop. They have four children who are now young adults and teenagers and all are committed Christians. David and Christine first came to work with Belmore Road in 2011 and their family relocated to Melbourne in late 2012.

David has served as an evangelist, deacon and elder at several congregations of the church of Christ in Australia. He was trained at the Macquarie School of Biblical Studies and the University of Western Sydney in theology and business. He spent 19 years working in the banking and finance industry and has forgone other careers to focus on his calling to ministry. David is also a religious and civil marriage celebrant and along with Christine serves in pre-marriage and marriage mentoring.

Christine has qualifications from the University of Western Sydney in teaching and education. Christine also spent 17 years in the insurance industry and like her husband has forgone other careers to focus on educating their children and assisting David in ministry.

In his ministry work, David is a keen student of the Bible who has been preaching for over 30 years. David is personally interested in knowing God; Biblical history and Jewish law in the Old Testament; marriage and parenting; church leadership; encouraging men to be the husbands, fathers and church leaders that God wants them to be; and promoting healthy and functional families. He has a love for Jesus and seeks to introduce God to as many people as possible. He has been visiting Papua New Guinea since age 19 and still enjoys helping the church in PNG through regular short mission trips.

Besides his wife, children and that mentioned above, David’s other interests include photography, woodworking, car mechanics, travelling, hiking and reading.
